About this event

Join us for the return of our in-person Connect Harwell networking event on Tuesday 28 September from 15:00 – 16:30 hosted at the Agilent Technologies building on Becquerel Avenue.  Light refreshments will be provided.

We will hear from Stuart Bonthron, R&D Director, Rob Stokes, Marketing Director and Julia Griffen, Product Manager, who will collectively share the story of Agilent and examples of their campus collaborations and experiences. There will be opportunities to take tours of the Demo Labs and facilities plus plenty of time for networking over tea and cake in the spacious Spectrum building!

Come along and meet colleagues from organisations across the campus in a relaxed and informative environment where you will hear more about some of the partnerships that are flourishing here. It may be a chance for you to make a new connection or two.

Agilent is a leader in life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemical markets. The company provides laboratories worldwide with instruments, services, consumables, applications and expertise, enabling customers to gain the insights they seek.

Agilent’s Raman spectroscopy business is based at Harwell. Formerly Cobalt Light Systems – a spin out from the STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Lab – Agilent acquired the business in 2017. The Raman business develops instruments for pharmaceutical quality control, hazardous material detection, and airport security. Using proprietary spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) technology, Agilent Raman systems can identify materials through barriers, including inside sealed opaque containers. This unique capability drives Agilent’s handheld Raman systems for pharmaceutical raw material ID and hazmat, explosives and narcotics ID.

Connect Harwell’s bi-monthly events are open to all campus organisations and sectors, providing a central forum to network and meet colleagues from the 200+ companies and facilities spread across the site. Connect Harwell events are hosted by a different campus organisation each time, providing an opportunity to visit some of the buildings you may never have been inside.

If you cannot come along in September, please invite colleagues along in your place and also feel free to invite any contacts you may have from other campus-located organisations that you work with.

For the safety of all those attending, we’re asking that only guests who have received the double vaccination attend. We are limiting the number of guests and taking steps to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 infection: Face coverings are recommended in the communal areas and required for tours. Social distancing is advised and temperature checks will be made on arrival. If you should experience any COVID-19 symptoms; high temperature, cough, shortness of breath or loss of taste/smell you must not attend the event. If possible, please let the Connect Harwell team know that you’re unable to attend.

We look forward to welcoming you and/or your colleagues to the Connect Harwell event.

The event is brought to you by Harwell Campus and STFC in partnership.
